Joan Keaney-Bray

I am an Irish artist, originally from Leitrim and living in London.

My most recent compositions have focused on portraits of Irish writers and poets such as Oscar Wilde and W.B. Yeats, as well as more contemporary abstract compositions.

Being particularly inspired by writers from my home counties, I find the joy of painting, such a peaceful and mindful way to switch off from this busy, multitasking world we all live in today.

I studied art at Harrow Art College, but in addition to the artistic side of life, I am married and the mother of a wonderful 7 year old girl.

I also have an academic background in Social Science and International Relations, with a passionate interest in the world around us and inequalities within. As such, I have worked and travelled extensively with the UK Government  Department for International Development and the FCDO for the the past 13 years. Working as a Senior Programme Manager on overseas humanitarian aid programmes as well as global programmes to improve international standards and access to quality education, particularly for women and girls in developing countries.
